Soy-Free Chocolate

Updated: Aug 26, 2021

Who knew that finding soy-free chocolate would be like hunting for gold. When I decided to transition to a plant based diet, I chose to eliminate soy when I realized practically every product contained it. Especially chocolate!..

I was amazed to find soy lecithin in the ingredient list of every chocolate product I looked at. I love all things chocolate and didn't want to give it up. No more hot chocolate, cookies, or cupcakes. No way! Finally, I found the pièce de résistance, Dagoba. A brand that is organic, soy free, and untreated with any alkali, And it's Non GMO! Can't get any better than that!

The first product I stumbled across was the Dagoba cacao powder at my local Target. I was so sure this too was going to contain soy like everything else. But alas, the ingredients list simply read organic cacao. The first thing I made was a nice cup of hot chocolate! You can find the recipe for this rich and delicious cup of hot cocoa here.

Next I found this wonderful baking chocolate bar. Now I can make my own candies, chocolate sauce and glazes. The possibilities are endless. Did I mention it's soy-free? I am so glad this product exists. I can make a lot of things, but producing my own cacao powder is not one of them Lol.

UPDATE 12/2020: Due to recent events, for the past year I have not been able to get my hands on this product. The Dagoba official website no longer contains any information regarding availability. Hopefully they will return in the near future.
